Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn about Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ. It’s my privilege to lead this exceptional community of educators, support staff, students and their families. And it’s my great joy to spend my professional hours in a beautiful environment, supporting our vibrant team.
My busy office is part of a grand old building called Elvo. It was the founders’ first gift to the school, and our campus is built around it.
From my desk, I can see the Pre-Kindergarten students exploring their nature-based playground. At the same time, I can hear our Year 12 students in the Senior Study Centre, just above my office. It’s a view of the complete educational journey that Oxley offers, in which every individual child is known, from the day they start school to their graduation day and beyond.
At all stages of their learning, we encourage students to be:Ìý
- independent critical thinkers
- creative and curious problem solvers
- confident, socially aware communicators
- purposeful collaborators
- accustomed to challenge and challenge ready.
We curate opportunities at Oxley to ensure students can take risks. That might mean asking a difficult question, joining a new team or volunteering in the outback. It will certainly mean taking part in sports, performing arts and outdoor education programs.
Our educational ethos is built on experience, challenge, care and curiosity. It’s a combination that means every child is known and challenged in their own way. It means Oxley graduates are ready for any trial they face, so they can go out into the world to make a positive contribution.
How does that happen? Through the dedication of experienced education professionals who are committed to Oxley’s values of courage, kindness and wisdom. They are leaders who show our students how to keep growing and how to engage in real conversation, listen to different voices and act with empathy, confidence and clarity.
It’s also because our Board of Governors generously apply their vast corporate and governance knowledge and experience to set a clear vision and mission for our school community. Together, we implement the plan that will strengthen our vibrant community while never losing sight of what’s most important: nurturing each individual child, as a whole person.
That vision and plan includes our candidacy as a Round Square School, a program that opens doors for students to opportunities for leadership, service, adventure and more.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ. We hope you’ll visit and take a sometime. We’re midway between Sydney and Canberra, with easy access by road and train. It means our students experience all the benefits of country living with easy access to the city - the best of both worlds, and home to a community I’m proud to lead.
